Any time we focus on our exhale, making it longer or more forceful, our parasympathetic nervous system (aka rest and digest) is activated. These three breaths are a hit with kids, but they definitely work for adults, too! For a more discrete way to get the same benefit, you can count the length of your inhales and exhales, then make your exhale 2-3 seconds longer then your inhale. Try it!
